Dr. Robert Peterson

Dr. Robert Peterson holds a Master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota with emphasis in choral music and music education. Dr. Robert L. Peterson joined the faculty of Chesterton Academy in the fall of 2009 after his retirement as Director of Choral Activities at Macalester College in St. Paul. He had been on the faculty of Macalester since 1998. Prior to Macalester, Dr. Peterson was the Director of Choral Activities at Edina Senior High School for 22 years. Before Edina, Dr. Peterson taught for the U.S. Department of Defense schools in Tokyo, Brussels and Munich for eight years.

In 1994, Dr. Peterson received the “Choral Director of the Year” award from the American Choral Director’s Association of Minnesota. He also receive teaching honors from Edina High School and each of his Department of Defense Schools.

Currently, Dr. Peterson is the musical director of the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale at the Church of St. Agnes in St. Paul. Under his direction, the Chorale performs major Latin Masses with a professional orchestra and soloists. He has held this position since 2001.
