Join us for our 10th annual Cultura Vitae lecture featuring Christopher Check. Mr. Check will speak about the conversion of Mexico by Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the message of hope that she brought to the people of the Americas; a message that is relevant and important to the pro-life movement today. The lecture will take place at Chesterton Academy’s Edina Campus. Dale Ahlquist, President of the American Chesterton Society and Co-Founder, Chesterton Academy, will introduce Mr. Check.
About the Lecture
When the Blessed Virgin appeared to St. Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill in December 1531, she set in motion events unique in human history. In the wake of Catholic Spain’s swift conquest a decade earlier of an Aztec empire steeped in the demonic ritual of human sacrifice, some indigenous souls had converted to the Faith. But following the apparitions of Mary and the miraculous events that accompanied them, the many millions of baptisms in Mexico in so brief a time—even as Europe foundered in religious wars—stands as a supernatural intervention without equal in the life of a nation. One cannot fail to wonder at the Virgin’s heavenly power and speculate about how the rest of the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe will unfold.

About the Cultura Vitae Lecture
The Cultura Vitae Lecture Series was established during Chesterton Academy’s inaugural academic year (2008) as an effort of the school to educate the greater community and to build what Saint Pope John Paul II called “the culture of life.” To that end, the series is dedicated to bringing scholars and accomplished individuals to speak on a variety of issues that directly affect the protection of the human person, the family, and the building up of the common good.
