Chesterton Academy Announces Campus Expansion
Grass-roots movement of parents results in first
additional campus serving families in the Twin Cities’ East Metro
MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (February 2, 2017 – Feast of the Presentation of the Lord) – Chesterton Academy, a private, Catholic, college preparatory high school located in Edina, Minnesota, announced today that will open its first additional campus to serve families in the East Metro area of the Twin Cities. The announcement, which was made with the support of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, comes one year after the school was officially recognized by the Archdiocese as a Catholic school.
The campus will open in the Fall of 2017 with an expected enrollment of 25 students in grades 9 through 11. The East Metro campus will be located for its first two years at Church of the Blessed Sacrament in East St. Paul, with the help of parish pastor Father John Paul Erickson. The East Metro Campus will deliver the same Chesterton Academy curriculum and formation as offered at the West Metro (Edina) campus, at the same tuition rate.
Chesterton Academy co-founder, Dale Ahlquist, said, “There are now nine Chesterton Academies around the country. All of them started the same way: a grass-roots effort from a group of parents who wanted this Catholic and classical high school experience for their children. They were drawn to our model with its integrated curriculum, daily Mass, and powerful spiritual formation. We are grateful to the dedicated families for their hard work in making the East Metro campus a reality.”
Headmaster and Superintendent Dave Beskar said, “We are delighted for this opportunity to help expand the available high school options for families in the Twin Cities metro. Together with the other outstanding high schools in our Archdiocese, we are committed to increasing the total number of high school students enrolled in Catholic schools – and forming more students who will bring the light of Christ to others and serve their families, our community, and Christ Our Lord.”
Interested East Metro parents are invited to attend a kick-off meeting at Church of the Blessed Sacrament (located at 2119 Stillwater Ave E, St Paul, MN 55119) on February 27 at 7PM to meet faculty members and Headmaster Dave Beskar, and learn more about the curriculum and vision for the East Metro campus.
